Set Habits, not just Goals!!!

Set Habits, not just Goals. This idea was inspired by Alex Hormozi who believes in a similar framework, as well as Ali Abdaal.

The basic idea is to use the goals you have and then reverse engineer them into actionable habits that you can implement everyday.

These goals come from your interests and whatever you would like to achieve in the world.

Here is a basic framework I came up with:

Interests –> goals –> skills –> habits

Example 1: Writing Online

You come up with interests that you have: Writing and helping people

You come up with a goal: create a successful website that generates passive income in the future

You come up with the skills that you need to get there: writing

You come up with the habits that you need to get there: write a blog post every week

Now every week I will write up a blog post with content that I believe is valuable and that will help people. I do not care if anyone reads it (if you are reading this I love you, thank you so much 🙂 ) nor do I care if it gets a lot of traction. all I care about is improving my writing and staying consistent.

When I first started this blog, all I cared about was writing consistently. Overtime I started to also gain knowledge on website design, SEO, and how to market online. I am slowly implementing these other factors into my process but for now all I care about is to post every Wednesday.

Example 2: Diet

Interest: Healthy Eating

Goal: Wanting to be a better cook

Skills: Cooking

Habit: Cooking one meal everyday

Example 3: Exercise

Interest: Wanting to be physically fit and capable

Goal: To be able to run a mile under 8 minutes

Skills: Running

Habits: go run everyday

I believe that in the beginning, keeping the habits simple is best. However as time progresses and you get comfortable and get better at whatever you want to do, you can start implementing more complicated and more structured habits, which I will discuss in a future article.

As always, thanks for reading and letting me help you become a better you!
