Trying out a Routine!!!

So last week I decided to do something different, implement a routine. The main reason for this is that I will be taking my DAT later this month and I need to make sure to have a set study schedule to make sure I achieve maximum performance. I also got inspired by other creators who have spoken the importance of routine and I decided to give it a try. However I am not super strict with this routine and I shift it around depending on if I need more sleep, when I wake up, or if something comes up. So below I have my dream routine which is what I would achieve if my future self was perfect. This routine is not too bad but also written with very high expectation of my future self. But I like holding myself to a higher standard. My mom always says aim for the stars so you can at least land on the moon. Also no cap, I cannot do this without drinking 200-300 mg of Caffeine a day, yes I need to phase down my intake and tolerance but not now. Also I stopped using mind-altering substances during the week and my god that made a huge difference, buts sleep has been tough.

The Dream Routine (During the Week)

if I take rest day then I just study, do other work, or wake up at 10 or 11 am instead

8 am: Wake up get some Sun

8:15 am: use bathroom, brush teeth

8:30 am: go on bike ride, run, or walk, depending on how I feel

9:15 Eat oatmeal and fruits

9:45 Drink Pre-workout

10 am Gym

11:30 come back and shower

12 Eat Salad and smoothie

1 Head to campus

1:30-2 Get caffeine head to library

2-6 Study for my DAT

6-7 Head back

7-9 Eat Dinner relax

9-Sleep: Do whatever I want or work or work on side projects

Lessons Learned So far:

Lesson 1:

The general anxiety that I used to feel throughout my day is now mostly gone. I think my anxiety stemmed from me not knowing what I have to do. Now with having a schedule or routine I stopped constantly asking myself, “Should I be doing this right now”.

Lesson 2:

I can actually do it. I was surprised that I could actually stick to this routine and I can’t wait for the next day to do it again. One of my inspirations Timm Chiusano says “A routine is where you can enjoy your favorite day, everyday” or something like that. And honestly I have been feeling so much better mentally and physically. At the end of the day I feel satisfied and can’t wait to do it again.

Lesson 3:

Consistency wins the race: I realized that now with having this routine I can do what I want to do everyday and still get work done. I am hitting the gym, eating better, studying hard, and getting to unwind during the night. I am very grateful that I do not need to work and can enjoy the last two months in San Diego living my life and getting my work done.

As always, thanks for reading and letting me help you become a better you!
